St. Mark's Square

Napoleon called St. Mark’s Square, “the most beautiful drawing room in Europe”. It holds St. Mark’s Basilica, the Campanile (Bell Tower), Doge’s Palace, the Government Offices of the Republic, and it’s the only square in Venice to officially get the title of Piazza. Anyone arriving from the sea is greeted by Venice’s two patron saints, The Lion of St. Mark and St. Theodore, sitting atop two large columns. (The space between these columns is also the sight of numerous public executions for acts considered “detrimental to Venice”.) Inside the square it’s music, overpriced cafes, and lots of tourists. But when you travel with kids only one thing here matters, those crazy pigeons! Once they know you have food, prepare to be attacked. While Cole and Mia thought it was hilarious, Ella on the other hand did not appreciate being bombarded. She stayed by mom and waited for a time when the numbers were a little more in her favor.
Some decoration on a corner of the palace.

I think he's making a nest!

The shoulder is clear for landing.
