Markets Galore

France is full of markets and Provence seems to be the king. You can find one any day of the week in almost every other town. A way of life since the Middle Ages, you can find produce, regional products, household goods, and antiques everywhere. In L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue it was easy to find all of the above. The kids hated aisle after aisle of all that “stuff”, and the word “market” made them cringe. We had to be creative (and selective) with our choices, because even we got overwhelmed with the amount of “stuff”. No other country we’ve visited seems to embrace their antiques like France. We would love to be able to just fill a giant crate to send home, but for now we’ll have to settle with an extra suitcase or two. And trust me, we’ll fill that and then some.

Paella is a local specialty with great to-go platters. With the melting pot of cultures in this region, you can find almost anything.
The brocante (antiques) can be found in all shapes in sizes. In L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue alone their are over 300 dealers.

We met these little guys at a lavender market.
