Brilliant!

Spending the next few days in London we quickly came to three important conclusions.  It's expensive, hotel rooms are tiny, and it's expensive!  When we arrived England I changed $100 at the airport to get us started and received 43 pounds.  Yikes!  Add that to the fact that everything in London is pricey as it is, and that adds up to a very expensive city for an American family.   We started out with a London overview taking a double decker bus tour of the city hopping off at several different locations.  We saw Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Trafalger Square, London Tower, and the Tower Bridge.  We also took a cruise down the river Thames.  After a stop at Hamley's Toy Store (about 7 floors of all toys), we made our way back to the hotel with the girls falling asleep on the bus.  Other than yesterdays toy stop, day two was a bit more kid friendly.  First we took in the changing of the horse guard.  As the different horseback guards lined up across from eachother, we got questions like "which ones are the bad guys" and "are they gonna fight".  Next was the London Eye.  This is the tallest ferris wheel in the world.  You enter a pod-like cabin and slowly head high over the city.  After that, we spent all afternoon on the Gloden Hinde pirate ship.  Captain Drake used this ship to catpure many treasures from the Spaniards back in the 16th century.  The kids were entertained with old pirate stories, tours of the ship, and of course a treasure hunt.  The crew were all dressed as pirates and did a great job keeping the kids occupied and mom and I rested on the gun deck.  Cheers Mate!
