From Dublin, to Dingle, to Doolin

Today it was on to Doolin, a tiny town known all over Europe as being a magnet for traditional Irish music. The town itself is no more that a few shops and houses along a valley road, which leads down to its harbor. So after wandering around the area we set our plan for the evenings entertainment. Gus O’Connors pub would be the destination with the music expected to begin around 9pm. The kids had fun even though Ella only lasted about an hour. After that you could find her sleeping in a nearby booth amongst the chaos around her. Mia concentrated on drawing a picture of the musicians and gave it to them later in the night. One of the accordion players was so tickled, he took it all over the pub to show it off. And I must say that I’ve always avoided Guinness as I never liked the heavy taste. I don’t know if it’s brewed different in Ireland, but I’m a changed man. So in closing we’ve learned that trad means traditional Irish music, craic (pronounced crack) means a fun atmosphere with good conversation, and most importantly, that slainte (pronounced SLAWN-chah) means Cheers!

Here's a small taste of the Trad.
