So now it's on to Spain and Portugal (and Morocco and Gibraltar). While we hate to leave Italy, we're excited to see what lies ahead. None of us have been to these countries, plus we'll be meeting up with more visitors along the way. Until then, here are a few last parting shots from Rome.
This is the Tiber River when we arrived. It was over its banks as it is every winter.
But then after 2 days of solid rain, things took a turn for the worse. With the extremely high water, all of the tour boat docks snapped from their moorings, sending them crashing into the nearest bridge.
Bridges all over town became a collection point for boats and debris.
Castel Sant' Angelo along the flooded Tiber.
Here's the front window of the local doll repair man.
Cole and I are getting pretty good at the ins-and-outs of European soccer now, so we attended 2 games while in Rome. In the first match Lazio hosted Inter Milan, and in the second it was Roma versus Bordeaux. Both games drew a crowd of around 60,000 very loud Italians.

Ciao Italia!
