My sister Kalli and her friend Becca arrived yesterday, and so we thought we’d spend a day in Chianti. We started in Greve-in-Chianti, the self-proclaimed capital of Chianti. After that it was on to Radda and then Castellina. Along the way we made the required wine tasting stops and found some beautiful sunflower fields.
It wasn’t the wine that caught our eye in Greve, it was the salami. In the main square we found Macelleria Falorni. This butcher shop is known throughout Tuscany and a real meat lover’s paradise. One of the butchers even came out to pose with the girls.
There were several rooms full of meat hanging everywhere.
On a lot of Tuscan roads, bikes outnumber cars. This crew is taking a break in the Greve.
Radda-in-Chianti with a storm approaching.
The gang gathered in front of the Castellini clock tower.
The rooster is the official symbol of the Chianti wine region. This big one was at one of the wineries we visited.
Honey is another popular Tuscan product.
